First, unplug your dryer and give the exterior a wipe down. Then clear the lint from the lint trap. Use a dry cloth to wipe the lint trap and around the vent as well as inside your dryer’s drum. You may use a vacuum with a smaller hose attachment to remove lint that is stuck. Wash the lint trap with warm soapy water before replacing it. Clean the hose with a vacuum to remove any lint build-up. Electrolux’s vented dryers are equipped with a Clean Filter indicator that lets you know when to clean the filter for perfect drying results.
If you are using a condenser dryer, empty the water reservoir and clear out lint traps after each load. Use a soft brush and a small amount of dishwashing soap to clean the lint trap every fortnight or so.
Use a flexible brush with extended bristles and a vacuum to remove any lint build-up. Vacuum the vent by sticking the nozzle into the vent as far as it will reach. Then vacuum the tube that runs from the dryer.
Your vent should be cleaned and inspected at least once a year, depending on your usage. When your clothes take longer to dry, it is an indication that your vent needs to be cleaned. If you find it hard to clean the vent yourself, you may hire a professional who can also help you check the overall condition of your dryer.
For condenser dryers, clean the actual condenser unit – which can be found beneath the main dryer door behind and outer and inner covers – every three months. To clean the condenser, remove it from the dryer unit, rinse it under running water and let it dry completely before putting it back into the dryer.
It is important to unclog the vent as quickly as possible as it poses a potential fire hazard. One way to fix a clogged vent is to reach into the dryer duct with a vacuum nozzle to clean out the lint build-up. Use a stiff cleaning brush for the hard-to-reach areas. You can also use duct cleaning kits that can be attached to a cordless drill to remove lint from the vent. Clean your dryer lint vents and ducts frequently to prevent clogs from happening.
Dryer capacity: There are full-size and compact models available for different household needs and space. A full-size clothes dryer lets you wash and dry large loads quickly but can be big and bulky, while a compact dryer is suitable for small households.
Dryer performance: A high-performance dryer with energy-saving features can dry your clothes at a low operating cost. Choose a dryer that has moisture or dryness sensors, wrinkle-free options and temperature controls. For instance, the Iron Aid function in selected Electrolux models, such as the EDS7552 and the EDS7051, reduces wrinkles and saves you the time you might otherwise need for ironing.
Dryer controls: Dryers that let you custom-select Regular, More Dry or Less Dry settings require less drying time and energy. Temperature controls can help you choose the right settings for different fabrics, such as for wools and delicates. The Woolmark Certification on our drying performance means that our dryers are safe to use even for hand-wash only items and woollens.
Evaluate your drying needs and the space available to get a better idea on what size dryer you need. Full-size dryers have capacities of 200 to 230 litres and compact dryers’ capacities are around 100 litres or less.
A compact dryer would suit a household with only one or two people washing light garments and no heavy bedding. As a general rule, your dryer’s capacity should be twice the capacity of your washing machine to ensure that your wet laundry dries efficiently, without using too much energy. Electrolux offers dryers with different capacities, from 6.5kg to 11kg (availability varies).
Air is drawn in to dryer, heated and passes through clothes. Moist air is extracted and passes through heat exchanger. Moisture in air is condensed and collected in the water tank. Electrolux condenser dryers are designed with auto humidity sensors that are strategically placed at the bottom of the front wall inside the drum. This ensures even the smallest load will make contact with the sensors.
For precise drying results sensors take 3 humidity readings throughout the cycle. This enables the appliance to adjust the run time for the perfect result without over-drying.
